Boleskine House Hanging Glass Lamp Fixture – Star Dodecahedron
Photo Source: anon taken in Feb 2016 post fire.  See here:

When people sell homes, hanging light fixtures they purchase and install often go with the sale of the property.   Did Jimmy Page purchase and install this lamp fixture at Boleskine house during the time he owned it?

This exquisite shape is formed around a dodecahedron.  One of many Sacred Geometry shapes found in the universe.   Each of the 12 pentagonal faces is extended into a phi ratio star point which create 12 interlocking pentagrams. The Star Dodecahedron has become a popular tool for graduates of other Metaforms and a powerful symbol for divine/human co-creation. It stimulates the heart chakra and helps to move the energy into new levels of conscious awareness. The 12 stellated points activate all the human body’s subtle systems, creating a peaceful experience in the integrated polarity of feminine and masculine energy. The Star Dodecahedron produces a warm feeling of transcendence with its symmetrical beauty and adds a radiance to any decor or landscape.

The Star Dodecahedron is in essence a Twice Complex Merkaba.  The Merkabah is an ancient symbol, which represents ‘One with All’.

[ And if you listen very hard…The tune will come to you at last…
When all are one and one is all…
]

The symbol is represented by two tetrahedrons  (ie two three-dimensional equilateral triangles), which oppose each other and are merged together to form the six pointed Merkabah (also called a Star Tetrahedron).

The MerKaBa, which can be viewed as a three dimensional Star of David. Also spelled MerKaBah, it is the divine light vehicle allegedly used by ascended masters to connect with and reach those in tune with the higher realms. “Mer” means Light. “Ka” means Spirit. “Ba” means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which transports spirit/body from one dimension to another.  Counter rotating means the upward (male) tetrahedron spins anti-clockwise and the downward (female) tetrahedron spins clockwise, hence forming a divine ‘orb’ of light.  It is this ‘orb’ Merkabah vehicle that transports our Spirit/Body from one dimension to another. Thus the Merkabah helps us to fully activate our Light Body Crystalline Matrix multi-dimensionally through the 13 levels of experience (dimensions) of our Galaxy – ie Metatron’s Cube.

The most famous talisman is a six-pointed star, made from
two overlapping triangles. The upward pointing triangle symbolizes fire, the
sky, and male energy. The downward pointing triangle symbolizes water, earth,
and female energy. The power of this talisman is such that mystic Arthur Edward
Waite wrote: “Nothing was believed
impossible for those who possessed it.”
(A. E. Waite, The Occult Sciences
[Secaucus, NJ: University Books, 1974], 111).

“We
put in the fantasy sequences because we ran out of concert footage,”
says Page, who is
seen as a pilgrim climbing the mountain, a symbol of his search for
enlightenment, and reaching out to touch The Hermit, the adept, the loner, only
to discover that The Hermit is himself.  After
which he whizzes back to the womb again. “So it’s me going up and up towards this
beacon of truth and figure of knowledge.” He flings his right arm high. “And
then having this epiphany that truth can come to you at any point in your life.
Which is what I’d like to think for everybody, you know?”
There’s more
behind it. Magic. Spirituality. Secrets he’s keeping. “I wanted people to think, ‘What
is that? What’s he getting at?’
 ” Page flashes a
smile. “There you go,” he says. “A bit more mystery for you.”

The following excerpt is from an 1975 Interview with Jimmy Page & Robert Plant for Rolling Stone Magazine by Cameron Crowe regarding living in Aleister Crowley’s former home, Boleskine House.

Of interest to me was Page’s response to Crowe’s question regarding having contact with any of the spirits?

You live in Aleister Crowley’s home.
[Crowley was a poet and magician at the turn of the century and was notorious for his Black Magic rites—Ed.]

PAGE: Yes, it was owned by Aleister Crowley. But there were two or three owners before Crowley moved into it. It was also a church that was burned to the ground with the congregation in it. And that’s the site of the house. Strange things have happened in that house that had nothing to do with Crowley. The bad vibes were already there. A man was beheaded there and sometimes you can hear his head rolling down. I haven’t actually heard it, but a friend of mine, who is extremely straight and doesn’t know anything about anything like that at all, heard it. He thought it was the cats bungling about. I wasn’t there at the time, but he told the help, “Why don’t you let the cats out at night? They make a terrible racket, rolling about in the halls.” And they said, “The cats are locked in a room every night.” Then they told him the story of the house. So that sort of thing was there before Crowley got there. Of course, after Crowley there have been suicides, people carted off to mental hospitals. …

And you have no contact with any of the spirits?
PAGE: I didn’t say that. I just said I didn’t hear the head roll.

What’s your attraction to the place?
PAGE: The unknown. I’m attracted by the unknown, but I take precautions. I don’t go walking into things blind.

Do you feel safe in the house?
PAGE: Yeah. Well, all my houses are isolated. Many is the time I just stay home alone. I spend a lot of time near water. Crowley’s house is in Loch Ness, Scotland. I have another house in Sussex, where I spend most of my time. It’s quite near London. It’s moated and terraces off into lakes. I mean, I could tell you things, but it might give people ideas. A few things have happened that would freak some people out, but I was surprised actually at how composed I was. I don’t really want to go on about my personal beliefs or my involvement in magic. I’m not trying to do a Harrison or a Townshend. I’m not interested in turning anybody on to anybody that I’m turned on to … if people want to find things, they find them themselves. I’m a firm believer in that.

[From Wikipedia]

Crowley purchased Boleskine House from the Fraser family in 1899. The House at that time was known as the Manor of Boleskine and Abertarff after the name of the local parish. Crowley believed the location was ideal to sequester himself to perform a series of operations known as the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, taken from a grimoire called The Book of Abramelin.  According to Crowley, in his book The Confessions of Aleister Crowley, in order to perform the operations “the first essential is a house in a more or less secluded situation. There should be a door opening to the north from the room of which you make your oratory. Outside this door, you construct a terrace covered with fine river sand. This ends in a ‘lodge’ where the spirits may congregate.” The purpose of this ritual is to invoke one’s Guardian Angel. It requires at least 6 months of preparation, celibacy and abstinence from alcohol. However, it also includes the summoning of the 12 Kings and Dukes of Hell, to bind them and remove their negative influences from the magician’s life. Whilst Crowley was in the process of performing the lengthy ritual, he was called to Paris by the leader of the Golden Dawn. According to legend,he never banished the demons he had summoned, leading to strange happenings occurring in and around Boleskine House.

Crowley became infamous for stories of conducting black magic and various other rituals while residing at the house.

The text describes an elaborate ritual whose purpose is to obtain the “knowledge and conversation” of the magician’s “guardian angel.” The preparations are elaborate, difficult, and long. All of the German texts describe a duration for the operation of 18 months before any divine contact is known. In the Mathers translation, the initial phase of working the system lasts only six months.

During the period of the work, the magician must daily pray before sunrise and again at sunset. During this preparatory phase, there are many restrictions: chastity must be observed, alcoholic beverages refused, and the magician must conduct his business with scrupulous fairness.

After the preparatory phase has been successfully completed, the magician’s Holy Guardian Angel will appear and reveal magical secrets.

Once this is accomplished, the magician must evoke the 12 Kings and Dukes of Hell (Lucifer, Satan, Leviathan, Belial, etc.) and bind them. Thereby, the magician gains command of them in his own mental universe, and removes their negative influence from his life. Further, these spirits must deliver a number of familiar spirits (four principal familiars, and several more associated with a set of magical word-square talismans provided in the Abramelin’s Book Four).

The magical goals for which the demons can be employed are typical of those found in grimoires: the practitioner is promised the ability to find buried treasure, cast love charms, the ability of magical flight, and the secret of invisibility, to list a small number of examples.

Magic squares feature prominently in the instructions for carrying out these operations, as does a recipe for an anointing oil (taken from Exodus 30), popularly used by ceremonial magicians under the name “Abramelin Oil”. There are also several further tools – such as a holy Lamp, a Wand made of an almond branch, a recipe for incense known today as “Abramelin Incense” (also taken from Exodus 30), various Robes, a square or seven-sided plate of silver or (bees) wax, etc.

Because the work involves evocation of demons, the Abramelin operation has been compared to Goetic magic, especially by European scholars. However, the text’s primary focus is upon the invocation of the guardian angel, and modern works on the subject tend to focus upon this aspect as well.

The Trans-Saturnian 3 (Part 3)

The two symbols presented here represent the planet Pluto which was discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh.

The planet is named after a Greek god named Pluto, who was the ruler of the underworld. ■
Again, notice the three ingredients for a planetary symbol: the elemental cross: the lunar crescent: and the solar circle.

The second symbol for Pluto is simply the first two letters of Pluto (PL) merged into one.

Again, the trans-Saturnian 3 are new discoveries that don’t fit perfectly into astrology, alchemy or Kabbalah. Though some attribute pluto to Kether, the highest sphere on the tree of life synonymous with god and the beginning of the universe.

It’s interesting that Pluto, a god of the underworld, was the name given to the last “planet” in our solar system as it sits on the edge between the light of the sun and the black abyss of space.

I was tempted to delve into the mythologies of the trans-Saturnian gods, however that is out of the scope of decoding symbols and would require an entire book!

The Trans-Saturnian 3 (Part 2)

This is the symbol for Neptune, the 8th planet from the sun that was officially named in 1846.

The planet is named after the Roman god Neptune, the god of the sea.

We can see 2 of the ingredients for a planetary symbol: a cross & a crescent. The two are stylized to create a 3 pronged trident, which is a symbol attributed to the god Neptune hundreds of years before the discovery of the planet.

The Roman Neptune would correspond with the Greek god Poseidon.

Again it is controversial to use Neptune in astrology, Kabbalah or Alchemy, but within Crowley’s book 4 Neptune is associated with Chockmah (the 2nd sphere on the tree of life). Though this doesnt make too much sense since Chockmah’s element is fire, and Neptune is clearly water. Syncretism is rarely orderly.

The Trans-Saturnian 3 (Part 1)

The symbol above symbolizes Uranus, the 7th planet from the sun, which was officially discovered and designated as a planet in 1781 by William Herschel.

The planet is named after the Greek god Uranus (a name which means “sky” or “heaven”) who is married to Gaia (a name meaning “Earth”).

The first 3 variations of this symbol contain the 3 ingredients for a planetary symbol: a cross: a circle: a crescent.

The H that is formed from the combination of these 3 ingredients is also said to symbolize the H from William Herschel’s last name.

The 4th variation of this symbol is a combination of the sun and mars symbols. This symbol was chosen by J. G. Köhler and refined by Johann Bode.

Within the field of symbolism that relates to qabalah, astrology and alchemy, it is widely debated on the practicality of incorporating the trans-Saturnian planets.

However it should be noted that Uranus can be associated with the “11th” sphereless sphere on the tree of life named Da’ath, according to Crowleys Book 4

In memoriam Adam Parfrey (1957-2018)

Adam Parfrey was committed to looking past the conventionally-offered, processed, herd-think dichotomies toward the oddities and fringe thinkers in search of a comprehensive understanding of what it means to be human. He embraced the outré, the bizarre—from theories that shattered accepted paradigms to sheer kookery—and published works by outsiders whose voices advanced atypical approaches. He gave them a platform and gave us additional evidence to ponder, so that we might have richer sources for making judgments about the exquisitely surreal world in which we live.

I met him many years ago, through our shared association with Anton LaVey, and we developed a mutual respect for the work we each pursued. We were colleagues and co-conspirators in our common disdain for the “the common”: the placid sheep who simply swallowed whole whatever might be dished-up for them as packaged “alternatives.”

He was a pioneering publisher and his Feral House books gave voice to, and in turn shaped, the emerging alternative cultural currents. His fine eye for searching out worthy materials and his ability to be supportive to truly iconoclastic weird folk inspired sincere imitators and shameless rip-offs. Parfrey was an original, and he lived a life that was full. A true “mover and shaker,” I’ll miss him. He left an indelible mark on many, and his impact will last long in the hearts and minds of those who both loved and hated him.

A horned salute to Adam Parfrey!

Hail Adam! Hail Satan!

How to become a magician

scrollofthoth:

I see a lot of advice on Tumblr. Most of it is from people
who are locked into a certain system of magick and they are giving you that and
calling it gospel. If you have your own deep spiritual beliefs, that’s great.
If your magick requires certain things from you, follow it. But don’t tell
people it’s the only way things are done. Magick is a highly varied ancient
practice. Also, highly personal. What works for you may not work for others.

Magick is an art. Would you tell an artist how they should
paint, or sculpt, or make music? No. It is up to the artist to learn the
fundamentals and then apply them as they see fit.

Here’s my advice. This is what has worked for me. Maybe give
it a try.

Do something with your magick every day. Keep your magical
consciousness active. Learn to see the world as a magical place. Magick does
not break the laws of nature. Magick is what the universe is made of.

Do it when you are tired. Do it when you are angry. Do it when
you are sick. Do it when you feel like there is no point to doing anything. It
can be small. A tiny intentional act. As simple as pouring water for your
ancestors. As simple as a prayer.

But keep doing it. Every damn day. Let it build. Keep doing
it until it is a part of you. Do it because you are magus.

Practical magic in your mind

occult-pit:

My spirituality – or practice, or spiritual path, or however you’d want to call it – is very intrinsic.
I feel like any spiritual doing I might involve myself in are centered around me trying to understand myself in this world; to understand my being here, my purpose and to get to the bottom of my mind and consciousness. To see what my mind and spirit are capable of; to understand myself as a whole.

Pretty cheesy stuff, I know. But that’s what’s been driving me spiritually the most.

I sometimes feel I don’t need an altar. I don’t need candles or a pentacle or incense. I just need my mind. I need the dreams that visit me. The rare moments of clearance where I know what is going to happen, and it happens. I need the striking realizations that I know what my life will look like in a while, and there will be no surprise when the happy times come, or the sad times. The feeling when I am investing all my thoughts into meeting someone, and then they appear before me.

I do not need tools, my only tool is my mind. I say this not to dismiss anyone who finds tools useful or to call my beloved self-made wooden pentacle rubbish, or to ignore my love for my tarot cards. I always need the Moon, it’s the only symbol and magical companion I’ve ever needed.
But I recognize accessories from necessities, and my own conscious and subconscious mind is the latter.

I just want to share this thought I’ve had. That due to my spiritual path being so personal, I can’t seem to identify it sometimes. Which brings me to why it is so difficult for me to share it with other people in the first place. Even other magical people/witches/occultists… They will not understand it.  It is so much a part of my mind and my constant inner dialogue that I find no words fitting to how magic works for me. It just does, in it’s own way.
