This is a basic energy work practice technique i developed to help familiarize yourself with the way certain emotions and feelings look when doing energy work/out of body work. -J
Start by getting in a comfortable position to meditate in. Relax and do what ever you do to reach a meditative/trance state so you can go out of body and/or visualize a white candle burning in front of you. There should be nothing else around you almost like you’re in a void. I call this place my astral void space.
Really “see” and feel every part of this candle from the warmth it’s giving off to the way the wax feels. Hold it in your hands, or watch it in front of you. Do anything with the candle that will give you a good feel for its resting energy/base energy.
Then inside yourself bring up a strong emotion you can easily conjure up. feel it rise inside you and let the emotion and all the feelings it brings wash over you. Then project the energy/feeling from the emotion onto the candle to notice how it changes. Feel the way the warmth from the flame, the color of the light, the color of the wax change in front of your from your emotions.
Repeat step 3 with different emotions and sensations to see the way it changes the candle in your mind’s eye. Go back and forth between emotions and feelings to see if there is consistency in the way you see/perceive different energies.
For example:
The way my candle changes for feelings of being sad is the candle turns to a navy blue in color and the energy it gives off looks like a thin web of color. the candle light gives off a light blue glow and is very dim.
A happy excited energy is a mellow yellow color with a large flickering flame. The candle wax looks translucent letting the light from the flame pass through it.
This is a cool technique Ive learned to help me “see” energies better. especially when comes to seeing auras.
There’s plenty of resources out there available to you on Tumblr, you need only look. I’m sure there are plenty of energy work tags on plenty of blogs out there. The very basics of energy work is to learn how to ground, cleanse, and to sense it. I learned to ground from an old book for Wicca years ago. LOL
What is Energy Work?
To put it simply, energy work is working with unseen forces that’s generally labeled as energy. The concept of energy can take on many forms in both the physical and intangible. An object at rest can store up kinetic energy while the sun can emit solar energy. You have two sides to energy and that’s the scientific and then there’s energy work in witchcraft. Most practices utilizes some form of energy work guided by intention by the worker.
Centering yourself is the act of calming your mind and your emotions. It’s a kind of meditative state where you begin to feel more within and around you. The best way to learn to center is to learn to meditate. Meditation is the basic of most practices. You can reach a meditative state while walking, exercising, in the shower, reading, etc. You tend to focus your mind to the point where the rest of the world fades into the background. Active meditation aids you in keeping your body focused on a task that tends to be repetitive for your mind to become still. There are plenty of guided meditations you can try and search for on YouTube.
The basic idea was to sit down with your legs crossed and begin to meditate. You imagine yourself as a tree and set down roots where the base of your spine would be and the trunk being your spine, the sprouts above your head. The intention was to connect with the earth and then push out all your ‘bad’ energies into the earth and take within its energies to hold within yourself. Then release it and slowly come out of the meditative state by withdrawing your roots. I used this grounding method while starting out and it was a very common one to use. It didn’t work as well for me as my cosmic grounding method that I adjusted for the solar grounding within my post.
Typically, you should feel rejuvenated and relaxed when you ground. There’s plenty of guided meditation methods you can try. I even covered a few fire and solar grounding techniques within the post you commented on if you’d like to try those. Here’s plenty of links I have on hand with various grounding methods:
I learned to ground before I learned how to sense energy. Sensing energy involves a lot of patience, practice, and being patient with yourself. You don’t instantly become amazing at energy work. It takes you taking the time to repeatedly practice and push yourself. A good exercise to begin with is to start with your hands. Find a quiet place for yourself so you won’t be disturbed. Hold your hands, palms facing each other together. Now close your eyes and take deep breaths. (You don’t have to close your eyes yet I recommend it for the first time because removing the visual sense heightens your other senses.) Focus on the feel between your hands and gather your energy there. They should feel warm already just from having your hands together even before going into this with the intention of gathering energy from your body heat.
Next, slowly pull them apart and back together, not quite touching to focus on the feel against your palms. You should feel a slight push or pull. You can jiggle your hands a little side to side to get a feel for that sensation. The next step is to create a greater distance between your hands to work on sensing that energy between them. It can get weaker the further apart they are yet you’ll get better at it the more you play around with this. I used to play with this as a kid in school to make energy balls in my hands.
The next step up from working with your own energy is to work with plants. You hold your hands on either side of the plant with your palms pointing inward to each other. You concentrate on feeling for the plant’s energy, that slight push pulls against your hands. It’s important to take notes and keep track of how things feel for you because energy work will become subjective to you on your techniques over time. This method to feel a plant’s energy can be applied to rocks, objects, spirits, etc. Go nuts. I moved onto candles after plants when I started. You can figure out what energy you can feel and not feel.
Shielding is the act of using your energy or an outside source to create a protective shield around you. You can apply this as a personal shield around your body, an object, yourself, etc. This can range from protective wards to stopping others from intruding into your space. You can get creative as you’d like yet you’d have to tie the protective measure to an energy source to draw its power from. The most common forms of energy source to work with while beginning are the four basic elements (earth, air, fire, water), the moon, and the sun. You generally want to avoid using yourself as a source well as you have a finite amount of energy to provide and can tap yourself out by overworking yourself. There are physical objects you can use as protective measures or working with spirits yet I’m going to stick with the energy work focused for the purposes of this post.
The act of charging is using energy to fill up an object. It’s most commonly used with crystals. You often hear of people leaving various crystals or objects out in the sun or moon for awhile. This usually is to be filled with solar or lunar energies while at the same time become cleansed. You could charge water, candles, etc.
Programming is a continuation of charging and that is to give the object a purpose set through intention, sigils, spells, etc. The object itself has its own energy yet you can program it to act a certain way by specifying what for while charging the object. You can charge an object with your own energy, solar, lunar, fire, water, earth, air, whatever other energy sources you find or can think of. Setting the intention of the charging would create it’s programming which can be further enforced over using this object for its intended purpose. Repeatedly using it as such will cement in this programming.
Energy work isn’t a difficult thing to research at all. Before I discovered Tumblr, I learned everything from books and later Google when it was invented and computers became more mainstream. All it takes is for you to go out and look for the information because not everything is going to be handed to you. There’s so many 101 posts out there on Tumblr and now I’ve given you just one more to add to your arsenal.
One of the most important concepts sweeping the vast settings of global consciousness are that of the energy centers within our body. These bio-energetic centers have been called many names throughout the world, but are mostly attributed to the most ancient, esoteric, and shamanic of the Hindu spiritual beliefs The Hindu Tantra. Out of the many profound wisdoms that are revealed by this dynamic mystical practice, it is the mysterious energy vortexes that have had the most practical application in today’s currents of esoterica.
Some facts about the “Chakras” :
– The word “chakra” (pronounced chuk-rah) translates most closely to “wheel” in the English language. Therefore a chakra is best considered a wheel or vortex-like organ of the subtle energetic body.
– According to The Tantra, there are actually thousands of energy centers and pathways in the body, but the chakras are specific centers where many connections intersect.
-The purpose of the chakras are to process and disseminate energetic information between our spiritual and physical bodies.
-There are seven major chakras that oversee the human body. They are generally referred to as: The Root, The Sacral, The Solar Plexus, The Heart, The Throat, The Third Eye, and The Crown.
– Negative, traumatic, or confusing experiences can cause blockages in the corresponding chakras. The Seven Deadly Sins of Christianity directly correspond the major signs of blocked or imbalanced chakras, as well as The Seven Blessed Virtues being representations of the chakras in their ideal form.
– The Chakras are also mentioned as the “Seven Seals” of The Book of Revelation.
– In traditional Chinese medicine, the seven energy wheels are connected on an energetic pole of light energy called the Taiji Pole. The individual names for each chakra are: Huiyin , Mingmen Jinsuo/Spirit Storehouse, Shendao, Heaven’s chimney/Bige Vertebrae, Yintang/Wind Palace, and Baihui.
-In Islamic Sufism, there are also seven bio-energetic centers acknowledged throughout the body called “The Seven Lata’if.”
Hopefully this will express the importance of entering into a working relationship with your chakras. The mystical balancing of bio-energetic centers is a global idea spread accross many cultures, not just India. Of course it is important to give respect to the culture and system that brought it’s wisdom to forefront of esoteric thought. That being said, the knowledge of the chakras are a human birthright, transcending culture and religion.
The act of sending energy is a practice that can help, or hurt people, and can bless, or curse objects. You are able to do this without anything else all you really need is your own spiritual energy, and to be able to focus your mind, body, and spirit. By choosing a target, and taking your time to focus upon it will allow your spiritual energy to interact with the target affecting it. This can be used in order to make amulets, and charms, or in order to imbue energies into certain ingredients, and magical components for ritual work. You can also use this as a simple way to curse people, or to bless them with your energy. And, because of how fundamental, and non tool heavy this practice is you will be able to do it in public without being noticed, which can add some versatility to your practice.
1) First what you need to do is focus on what you want to send the energy to, and what type of energy you would like to send. This can be positive, or negative energy, or can be an energy associated with a certain type of feeling, or state of being such as something like love energy, or healing energy. Sending these types of energies allow them to effect the mind, body, and spirit of the entity, or can be infused into constructs in order for them to become an enchanted item.
2) Next visualize the energy that you are sending, and see it as a ball of light. Visualize it as strong as you can within your mind well also greatly associating it with what energy you have selected. See things that are associated with that concept inside of the ball of light spend a good amount of time doing this until you feel that it is ready.
3) Once you feel that it is ready you release it by pushing the ball out, and away from you, while also visualizing it flowing to the object that you want it to interact with. This will send your energy out, so that your Will, will be able to manifest your intention. Repeat these steps as many times as you would like in order to continue sending energy.
1) Soul Star Energy Center: Its purpose is to receive cosmic forces, and divine energy, and it is connected to your higher self, spiritual essence, and higher planes of existences. Located outside the physical body above your crown energy center. Located 6-8 inches above the head, and it is a transpersonal energy center.
2) Causal Energy Center: Receive energy from the soul star, receive messages, information, and inspiration from the higher planes of existences. Alters our perception, and broadens our horizons of consciousness. Energy center is also connected to your past lives, and is sometimes referred to as the past life energy center because of it. 4 inches above the head, and it is a transpersonal energy center.
3) Crown Energy Center: It is connected to divine wisdom, intelligence, and your personal incarnated consciousness, and knowledge. Located on the top of the head.
4) Third Eye Energy Center: It is connected to inner vision, intuition, perception, wisdom, and spiritual senses. located on your forehead, between your eyebrows, but just a little bit higher.
5) Throat Energy Center: It is connected to communication, creativity, and self-expression. Located within your throat.
6) Shoulder Energy Centers: It is connected to strength, will-power, motivation, freedom, hopefulness, determination, desire. These are used in order to send energy down your arms, and up into the other energy centers of the body. This energy center. has to do a lot with the strength of the individual, and what they choose to put on their shoulders. located in the shoulder blades
This is an energy working technique where you run your fingers up, and down pathways along your body in order to help your energy flow to those places more smoothly. This will go through the process of helping you clear up blockages in your energy system and it can also be used in order to relax you through its gentle, and calming movements. You are going to want to guide the energy through your body in a very slow, and gentle manner, so that you will be able to work through the blockages in your energy pathways allowing your energy system to work more smoothly. I have found that this practice usually works better when your hand makes contact with your skin rather than hovering over your body, or going through clothing.
In order to begin doing this technique you are going to want to start from an energy center in which is used to bring energy into your body, whether that be your palm, sole, crown, or root energy center. Place one of your hands on this energy center and envision your hand beginning to Glow with your spiritual energy. You are also able to use two hands if you would like though I find it is easier to focus on where you are guiding the energy if you only use one. You could also go through the process of drawing a cleansing sigil upon your hand in order to help you out during this energy practice. Of course you would have to go through the process of charging, and activating it before you do the practice, but it could Supply much-needed power into the practice. Allow your hand to be empowered and to take in energy from the surrounding area in your body, while this is happening also focus on this energy, and will it to be something that is purifying, and cleansing. See it interacting with the energy center that you have began upon, and allow it to cleanse, and balance that energy center as your hand makes contact with it.
Once you feel that it is good, and clean begin moving your hand down to the other parts of your body by guiding it with a gentle touch along your skin. Stop upon all the energy centers in which you know, and allow your cleansing energy to clean, and allow it to make your pathways flow better as it goes. You will want to take your time, and you will want to go over pathways multiple times to make sure that you get them very clean, and really open them up. Take time to gently glide all over your body making sure that you do a thorough job, and address any problem areas you think you may have. When you feel the technique has been completed remove your hand from yourself, and visualize the energy dissipating from it, then you will be able to go on your way knowing the technique has been completed.
Energetic burnout occurs when you have been using way too much of your own personal spiritual energy to such a high amount that you start to feel physically, spiritually, and mentally exhausted, and may even lose the ability for a short time to do types of energy work that draw specifically from your energy. This may give you headaches, fatigue, body aches, and much more symptoms depending on the person, and how much energy they have expended. When you are in an energetic burnout your energy will come back to you in normal means just through the continuation of life, but you can work yourself out of this state if you desire. To work your way out of an energetic burn out quickly you would need to take in more spiritual energy. This can be done through various different energy gathering methods such as keeping high vibrational stones next to you, burning certain herbs, grounding, centering, absorbing energy from other constructs, consumption of food, sleeping, and a plethora of other different things. Energetic burnout is a thing that practitioners run into at least once on their path, and it’s something everyone should be aware of.
It is possible for you to take too much spiritual energy into your body at one time, just like it is possible to suffer from energetic burnout. I refer to this high energy state as energetic overflow for a lack of a better name. Both of these states are not very balanced for your body, and energetic system due to the fact that one is the lack of having enough energy, and the other is the over excess of energy. By taking too much energy into your body you will overly charge your energy centers, and energy channels allowing them to over activate, and become suffocating, and overwhelming with the amount of energy that they are working with.
This will result in forcing you into a state of being super open, and sensitive to energies around you, allowing them to more powerfully impact you, and your spiritual being. This will leave you open to energies, and vibrations that you may not want to be open to. These energies will be things such as pain, and sadness that other people may be feeling around you, along with other powerful negative emotions, and feelings. Having too much energy can also lead to feelings of being ungrounded, moodiness, headaches, and anxiety. Your energy will also become very hyperactive, and uncontrollable, while in the state. You will also begin to lose your connection to the physical world, and will feel more like you are living in some form of illusion, or spiritual world. You may also become very restless, jittery, and nervous while also feeling like you have the energy to do everything, but the focus to do none of it. Along with many other symptoms depending upon who is experiencing energetic overflow.
In order to fix being energetically overcharged you should center, ground, and release that energy into the earth, so that you can return back to a balanced, and harmonic state. Balance is very important in our energy systems. It allows us to stay in the place where we are supposed to be, so that energy can flow harmonically with what we are aligned to handle at that time.
