The Thema Mundi

The Thema Mundi or “World Theme” is
the mythical horoscope of the creation of the world used by ancient Hellenistic
astrologers. The chart shows the supposed planetary configuration that
coincided with the birth of the universe. Through the use of this chart some
explained the logic behind the rulership of the signs and the meaning of some
of the 5 Ptolemaic Aspects. It is highly symbolic in nature, and though the
true origins of astrology are a bit more complicated it gives us a glimpse into
the mind of some of those ancient astrologers.

The Ascendant of the chart is Cancer
The Sun

is in the Sign of Leo
The Moon

is in the Sign of Cancer
Mercury

is in the Sign of Virgo
Venus

is in the Sign of Libra
Mars

is in the Sign of Scorpio
Jupiter

is in the Sign of Sagittarius
Saturn

is in the Sign of Capricorn

Some personal notes:

  • With the chart ruler being the Moon due to its Cancer
Ascendant we can see a belief that nature is essentially nurturing and kind,
and from this line of thinking we can see correlations with the idea of “Mother
Nature” and primordial goddesses such as Gaia.
  • The first aspect in the chart is that of the opposition of
the Moon and Saturn, which in turn indicates the difficulty of the aspect due
to the association with Saturn and blockages or delays.
  • The next aspect would be the square of the Sun and Mars,
squares are highly energetic aspects like the two planets involved.
  • Following that we see the trine from the Sun to Jupiter,
which represents “God-given” talents and blessings, or an easy and flowing
    relationship that comes naturally
  • The Sun is sextile to Venus, and we are shown a relationship
in which you must reach out and make effort (as one does in relationships) to
see benefit. The potential is there for the taking, but does not come with the
    same ease as the trine.

Active, And Passive Sigil Activation

wolfofantimonyoccultism:

Once you have your sigil all charged up, and filled with your intent all there is left to do is to cast it into the universe to gain what you want, and desire. This casting into the universe can be done in two ways actively, or passively. Both of these ways have their own benefits, and setbacks, but it is important to determine which way you should activate certain types of sigils, because it changes the way the energy is released into the universe, and allowed to manifest. So we will be taking a look at both these activation styles, and when they would be most effective to use over the other one.

Active Sigil Activation:

In active sigil activation the energy is usually released all at once, or in a very immediate fashion. This is usually done through the means of destroying the sigil to allow all its energy to manifest at once. This type of activation is good for sigils that only have to be used once, or in a single situation. Sigils I would use in this activation method would be sigils for banishing, exorcising, purifying, cleansing, manifesting, summoning spirits, removing negative energy, removing spiritual blockages, removing emotional blockages, and one off curses, among many others.

Ways to activate active sigils:

  • Putting the sigil on a piece of paper, and burning it in fire
  • Putting the sigil on a piece of paper, and submerging it in water until it dissolves.
  • Putting the sigil on a piece of paper, and ripping the paper in half.
  • Drawing the sigil in to the sand at the beach, and letting the sea wash it away.
  • Drawing the sigil in the air with your energy, and pushing through it in order to destroy it.
  • Making the sigil out of dust, or powder, and then blowing it away to destroy it.
  • Making the sigil in your mind, and then imagining it being destroyed to activate it.
  • Putting the sigil on food then eating it.
  • Drawing the sigil on a firework, and then set it off.
  • Drawing the sigil on a balloon, and then pop it.
  • Drawing the sigil on your body, and then wash it away.
  • Singing the sigil out loud for all to hear.
  • playing a music, or an audio sigil out loud for all to hear.
  • and much more…

Passive Sigil Activation:

In passive sigil activation the energy is usually released overtime through a very moderate, and controlled fashion. This is done through the means of charging a sigil, and keeping the sigil around with you, or in the area where the energy is needed for it to continuously produce its energy. This type of activation is good for sigils that are needed to continuously affect the world around them. Sigils I would use in this activation method would be sigils for protection, luck, empowerment, healing, psychic abilities, transformation, attracting energy, retaining energy, changing, and continuous curses, among many others.

Ways to activate Passive Sigils:

  • Putting the sigil on a piece of paper.
  • Drawing the sigil on your body.
  • Carving sigils into a candle, and lighting the candle.
  • Carving sigils into soap, and washing your body with the soap.
  • Making a sigil amulet.
  • Writing the sigils upon stone.
  • Placing the sigil as your computer, or phone background.
  • Posting an image of the sigil online.
  • and much more…

Protection Circle Methods

devnine:

I thought I’d post some methods I use for protection circles, for people to learn or just see how others might do it!

To begin, the basic goal of a protection circle is to create a sort of threshold, over which nothing can cross that you don’t allow. To do this, you channel energy to link other specified points of energy together, and form a wall.

(As always, try to cleanse everything that isn’t sealed before working with it!)

Candle Method: Set up any number of candles, so long as you can form a circle with them; I prefer my minimum amount to be five. Take your lighting tool and, starting from the top, light each candle clockwise. Once done, set your tool aside, and begin focusing on the candles.

Start at whichever one you like, then concentrate and visualize extending a band of energy from it to one of the candles beside it, continuing until you feel like the energy band has been established and is solid between them. Keep focusing, keeping that band thoroughly in mind, and repeat with the next candle, going around in a circle until you connect the last band to the first candle.

Now that you have the basis set up, it’s time to really make a shield: imagine the energy raising into a shining wall, solidifying, filling in all gaps to make the circle into a barrier. As you feel like the wall is coming to completion, instruct it with both visualization and instinctive will to repel energy, and not to draw it in.

Once you’re done, and you feel as if the energy has been properly shaped and instructed, you now have a protection circle! Only energy you intend or allow to go through it will be allowed. When you’re done with it, blow the candles out counterclockwise, starting from the top, and focus a bit on releasing and dispersing the remaining energy. (I prefer to do this during my after-spell cleansing.)

Salt Method: Prepare a fair amount of salt for use; you can even use pre-charged salts, such as sun or moonsalt. For this, though, I’ll be assuming the salt is empty and cleansed.
Pour the salt in a circle, preferably with about a fairly-even, half-inch thickness, around the area you want to enclose.

Sit within it, and focus on connecting to the salt as you would a crystal; after all, it basically is! Once you have, charge it, again, just as you would a crystal-but, instead of just leaving the energy in it, start visualizing a shining barrier of light raising from it, similar  to the candle method. Will it to solidify, to have no gaps, and instruct it to repel energy and not draw any in as it starts to finish.

Once you feel as if the wall is solid and properly-coded, you should have a nicely-made protection circle. When done with it, tap back into the salt and channel the energy out of it into the surrounding environment, then gather back up or disperse the salt after cleansing it and whatever remaining energy is left over.

Extra Tips: You can use the candle method with several different things replacing candles; charged clear quartz, granite, obsidian, seashells, or runes for protection arrayed in the same way as candles-and used to make a protection circle by the same method I described-will work just as well! (If using runes, however, make sure that’s the only kind of rune you’re using at the time, or the others might mess with it.)

Similarly, you can use the salt method with any ground-up mineral, or even ground eggshells, if you’re so inclined!

I hope this helps some people, or at least is just interesting; thanks for reading!

tincturephysicorum:

“The Pentagram signifies the domination of the mind over the Elements, and the demons of Air, the spirits of Fire, the phantoms of Water, and the ghosts of Earth; all are enchained by this sign. Equipped therewith, and suitably disposed, you may then behold the Infinite through the medium of that faculty which is like the soul’s eye, and you will be ministered onto by legions of angels and hosts of fiends…. It follows that, by means of the imagination, demons and spirits can be beheldd, really and in truth; but the imagination of the Adept is diaphanous, whislt that of the crowd is opaque…. The Pentagram is called in Cabbalah the Sign of the Microcosm…. By the Pentagram also is measured the exact proportions of the great and unique Athanor necessary to the confection of the Philosopher’s Stone and to the accomplishment of the [alchemical] Great Work.” – Transcendental Magic: It’s Doctrine and Ritual by Eliphas Levi

plarabee:

From Transcendental Magic, its Doctrine and Ritual:

“The goat on the frontispiece carries the sign of the pentagram on the forehead, with one point at the top, a symbol of light, his two hands forming the sign of occultism, the one pointing up to the white
moon of Chesed, the other pointing down to the black one of Geburah.
This sign expresses the perfect harmony of mercy with justice. His one
arm is female, the other male like the ones of the androgyne of
Khunrath, the attributes of which we had to unite with those of our goat
because he is one and the same symbol. The flame of intelligence
shining between his horns is the magic light of the universal balance,
the image of the soul elevated above matter, as the flame, whilst being
tied to matter, shines above it. The beast’s head expresses the horror
of the sinner, whose materially acting, solely responsible part has to
bear the punishment exclusively; because the soul is insensitive
according to its nature and can only suffer when it materializes. The
rod standing instead of genitals symbolizes eternal life, the body
covered with scales the water, the semi-circle above it the atmosphere,
the feathers following above the volatile. Humanity is represented by
the two breasts and the androgyne arms of this sphinx of the occult
sciences.”
